A creative alternative to shimming a nut with this small piece of wood. I see a lot of business card scraps but this is the first mini nut to come across the bench. Unfortunately in this position the "fix" wreaks havoc on intonation as it shortens the scale length on the G string. Ideally I like to replace the nut but removing the additional piece of wood and filling / recutting the nut slot was a more economical solution for the customer.

A local DIY'er brings me in a few of his projects every so often for some minor tweaks on jobs he's not quite comfortable with yet. The fret ends were quite sharp on this neck so I dressed them back nice and smooth.
A 20 year old Rick in with some bridge troubles. A previous shop somehow managed to strip and/or butcher the original bridge hardware. I recommended that we go with a Mastery Rickenbacker bridge replacement to really improve tone and sustain.
A Monte Montgomery signature model Kazou Yairi Alvarez back in the shop with some output jack issues. At a recent gig this player was experiencing his signal dropping out which is never a good thing. I opted to replace the corroded jack since it was worn out and the solder joints were sub par.
