Bridge removal & old top crack repair :: 1996 Martin HD-28
Refitting a failing bridge glue joint along with a top crack.
Put a humbucker in the sound hole :: Yamaha APX500III [4.7 lbs]
A player brought by his custom made humbucker sound hole mount and wanted me to re-install it for him. It was previously mounted but missing the screws and not wired up. The guitar does have an undersaddle pickup, but the wire was broken free from the pickup. I disconnected the side-mounted preamp and ran the new humbucker pickup directly out to the jack.
Loose Neck Joint & Bridge Fit :: 1960's Aria Barney Kessel [5.7 lbs]
The bridge foot needed to be refit along with a loose neck block re-glued to the top. The neck pickup was also freaking out, causing feedback and out-of-phase output issues. I found that the metal cover was split and there was a small section that was vibrating and inducing signal into the pickup. To fix this I ended up lightly hot gluing the broken cover to keep it in place. A bone new nut finished off the setup.
Shim Nut, Cracked Bridge & Ghost Bunny :: Yamaha FG-360 [5.0 lbs]
A low nut and cracked bridge brought this guitar into the shop. I shimmed up the nut and glued the bridge crack through the pins. The bridge is really rosewood that is dyed black to look like ebony. While cleaning the bridge I noticed there was an odd silhouette on the bass side wing. I had a good laugh when it turned out to be the remnants of an old Playboy bunny sticker.
New Bone Nut :: 1961 Fender Telecaster [7.2 lbs]
A beautiful 1961 Tele in for a new bone nut to correct string spacing. The previous replacement nut left the high e too close to the edge of the fingerboard allowing the string to easily fall off of the frets. Great, great sounding pickups!
