Hipshot B-Bender :: 1996 Fender 50th Anniversary Tele [8.8 lbs]

Here's a Tele with an aftermarket Hipshot string bender previously installed in for a setup.  I increased the neck angle and notched the saddles to help keep the string spacing consistent at the bridge.  As for the string bender, there is 6th string drop (set for a whole step down E - D), 3rd string hand lever (set to raise a whole step G - A) and a hip-activated lever on the 2nd string (set for a whole step up B - C#).

With some practice this thing is a lot of fun.  I'll post a video of me fumbling around with this guy over on the blog soon.

Neck reset final fit :: 1969 Guild Mark III

Whew! Guild neck resets are always a little more involved but this guy is just about ready to glue up. Guilds use a shallow dovetail angle so the fit is more critical than others. Time to buff out the finish repairs around the joint, glue, clamp and drink a beer.

2001 Taylor 310 :: bridge re-glue

Early pre-dawn bridge re-glue on a Taylor 310 dreadnought.  I'm loving the moldable plastic pellets (InstaMorph) I picked up weeks ago for making custom clamping cauls.  The cauls are shown above on the outer wings, backed with plywood for rigidity and to keep the clamps from slipping.

When a guitar is exposed to low humidity, often the fingerboard will move (shrink) and the frets become proud of the neck (since they are metal and do not contract with humidity).  Unbound fingerboards like this can become especially uncomfortable on the left hand so the frets were ground back flush with the neck and polished out.  I'm a big fan of the dynamic range of these G&L "Magnetic Field Design" pickups.  The "Belair Green" finish looks pretty sharp too.
