1972 Guild D35 [4.5 lbs] :: setup

I'm a huge fan of vintage Guilds so it's always exciting to have one in the shop.  This mahogany dreadnought is in great shape for being 43 years old.  The setup included adjusting the truss rod, saddle and nut.  The frets are extremely low and uncrowned, but it plays surprisingly well.

Truss Rod Repair :: 1960's Silvertone 1488 Silhouette

This 60's Silvertone had a broken truss rod.  At some point a portion of the threads snapped off and the nut is missing.  After removing the truss rod, I extended the threads with a 8-32 die and shortened the upper bar.  There is a collar that then slips back over in which the nut works against.  Luckily I was able to source an original truss rod nut (thank you Erick!).  Now to reinstall and continue on with the setup.

The player was experiencing some microphonic feedback on the neck pickup so he removed and wax potted the pickup.  Upon reassembly he had some wiring gremlins and needed the guitar for an upcoming gig, so he brought it by for me to troubleshoot.  I rewired a couple components, remounted the electrosocket output jack and setup the guitar.  Gig ready!
