Bad Bridge Fit :: 1960's Aria Barney Kessel

The floating archtop bridge foot has what I'm guessing is green felt soaked with superglue.  Though the bridge foot is fairly thin, I'll try to burn through most of this nastiness while improving the fit with the top.

3 Years Later, Return to Stock :: 1960's Goya Classical

This was an experiment to make a 2" wide neck play like a 1 3/4" by radically adjusting the nut spacing.  You can check out the original blog post, Small Hands, Big Necks from 2012.  The player decided to replace the modified nut (pictured above) with the original.  It is reasons like this that I always return anything that I remove from a client's instrument.

Flatter Fingerboard Radius :: 1994-95 Fender Telecaster

The combination of the vintage 7.25" fingerboard radius and rise over the body was choking out big bends high up the neck for this player.  We decided to flatten the extreme radius down to 10"R and plane down the body hump in the process.

Tweaking Nuts :: 2010 Alan Carruth 11 String Harp Guitar

This harp guitar belongs to Ken Bonfield and he brought it by the shop when we shot some video demos on the latest builds.  Ken is always experimenting with string gauges to find the best tone, tension and feel for his various alternate tunings.  He recently upped the gauge on a few of the subs (low-register bass harp strings) so the nuts were sized to improve the tone and tuning of the bigger strings.  This thing is a monster and Ken just so happens to have another Alan Carruth harp guitar coming soon.  I'm definitely looking forward to checking it out.
