1954 Fender Custom Triple-Eight steel :: I received the “trap” pickups back from Jason Lollar a couple weeks ago.  Jason fabricated new bobbins for the two original pickups and rewound them.  The original bobbins (one shown in the bottom left) were collapsed and made contact with the strings that pass through the pickup.  There is a missing pickup that was replaced (thanks Steel Guitar Forum!).

I’m really looking forward to getting this thing back together and strung up!

Super, super cool :: this is what I believe to be a 1954 Fender Custom Steel Triple-Eight string steel guitar (no badges / markings other than a serial number on the jack).

The first neck is missing the bridge / horseshoe-style “trapezoid” pickup assembly.  I expect sourcing a replacement to be extremely tough and fabricating a new one just as difficult.  More research and head scratching to come …
