"Fender" Strat [7.8 lbs] :: late-night quick setup

"Fender" Strat [7.8 lbs] :: late-night quick setup.

A player stopped in last night as he recently noticed that his Strat was beginning to fret out with big bends on the upper frets.  I removed the neck, tightened the truss rod, and raised the saddles back up to the original action.  This helped clean up the sustain in his bends.

I love being able to support gigging players.

Note this is a Chandler Industries body and a Warmoth neck.  I didn't have time to pull the pick guard and check the pickups.

2005 Martin DC-16RGTE :: resecure pickup elements and set up.

The output jack was falling out of the guitar as the nut inside had worked it’s way loose.  It was tightened and the cabling was resecured to the side so as to not rattle around inside the guitar.

The frets are severely worn, yet the guitar plays fairly clean with low action.  The guitar suffers from numerous low-humidity cracks along both the top and back seams.  The top seam running from the bridge to the tail block is completely open to the extent that a Post-It can be easily inserted.  I recommended that this top crack be be a priority and repaired as soon as the player’s budget will allow as it will eventually cause other complications.

1965/69 Gibson ES-125T :: non-original bridge fit / adjusted for neck set, pickup mounts improved, upper strap button internal reinforcement block fit / installed and set up.

The ES-125T is originally equipped with a single P-90.  At some point the guitar was modified for dual humbuckers and a 3-way switch.  The neck pickup’s rear mounting ring screws fell into the pickup rout.  Maple blocks were fit to give these screws a solid mounting point.  The bridge top was previously swapped for a tune-o-matic with the adjustment wheels removed in an attempt to lower the action.  I refit the bridge foot and planed down the top of the foot to give more range to adjust the action.  Adjustment wheels were also added.  See the included links above for work-in-progress photos.
