Half round setup :: Schecter Stiletto Studio 5 [9.2 lbs]

The player wanted to try a new set of strings on his 5 string bass.  He decided to go with a set of Ken Smith Slick Round [44-62-84-106-130].  These strings are similar to flat wounds but still retain more of the brightness found with regular round wound strings.  These strings are also known as half rounds.  Check them out, they're a really cool mix between flats and rounds.

Broken mini switch :: 2014 Schecter Synyster Custom-S [7.9 lbs]

This Schecter dropped by with a broken mini switch that turns the Sustainiac circuit on and off.  This switch is mounted direct to a circuit board and was rather stubborn to remove (as seen in the video below).

I was playing around with the circuit and stumbled across this rather cryptic message.  The screwdriver became an antenna and picked up a random local radio station.

Schecter Stiletto Studio 5 [9.2 lbs] :: setup & tuner tweak

This neck-though 5 string bass came in for a setup with Rotosound Stainless roundwound strings.  Upon inspecting the bass I found the D tuner had some play to it.  I removed the tuner to find that the mounting screw was bent and ready to break (pain to remove when they break) and the screw hole stripped out.  I plugged and re-drilled the hole and replaced the screw.

Note that the tuners on the end of the headstocks tend to receive the most abuse due to their exposure.  Gig bags can sometimes be rough on these tuners as well.
