Neck recarve :: 2014 JW Van Tele

Neck recarve :: 2014 JW Van Tele

I've carved another neck for this player and he knows what he likes.  This neck was much too thick for him (~0.960") so it was carved down to his spec's and refinished with tung oil for a satin feel.

2009 Fender Tele American Special / Warmoth [8.1 lbs] :: neck carve & setup

2009 Fender Tele American Special / Warmoth [8.1 lbs] :: neck carve and setup.

The neck is a Warmoth birdseye maple '59 carve that was thinned a bit and refinished with tung oil (wiping varnish).  Frets 12 and up were leveled and the neck set angle adjusted for the Mastery bridge.  The 3-way switch was intermittent so the contacts were cleaned as well.

2008 Sadowsky Modern 24 MM [7.2 lbs] :: bass neck re-carve

2008 Sadowsky Modern 24 MM [7.2 lbs] :: bass neck re-carve.

I have re-carved another Sadowsky J neck for this player and he prefers a thinner neck and super low action.  Both necks were refinished with a “Tung Oil Finish” that is really a wiping varnish as it has a resin mixed in with the oil to speed up drying.  This is a super easy, very tactile finish on a maple neck.
