The treble side top crack running from the high e to the tail was repaired. Now it's time for the bass side crack running from the A string bridge pin hole to the tail. This crack was repaired before by another repair person, then repaired by myself using the standard cleating method (small rectangular cleats). Since this guitar is exposed to less-than-ideal conditions, I'm removing the old cleats and re-repairing this crack with TJ Thompson's full cleat method.

2004 Gibson SJ-200 [4.7 lbs] :: fingerboard extension & center seam top cracks
This Gibson jumbo was dried out and needed a few top cracks repaired. Here's another photo from a couple years ago when it was in for a tailblock crack.
Top cracks :: 2004 Gibson SJ-200
This Gibson jumbo is showing the effects of this cold dry winter with a few top cracks. A portion of the center seam was open and needed to be humidified, glued and cleated. Along both sides of the fingerboard extension are top cracks running clean into the sound hole. These cracks were glued and reinforced with a single large cross-grain patch that follows just inside of the sound hole and butts up against the fingerboard brace.
