A player's long-loved SG he named "Norah" in for new frets, new bone nut and dressed up with some fingerboard inlay.  Originally a dot neck, we decided to go with pearl blocks along with a custom "Norah" script designed by the player's friend, cut by Dave Nichols Custom Pearl Inlay and the easy part, dropped in the board by me (video here).

The guitar is set up for slide, strung with flats and tuned to open E.  I highly recommend trying flatwounds if you are into slide.  Sounds killer.

The SG dot-to-block conversion rolls forward with a custom "Norah" script to be inlaid into the 12th fret.  This mother of pearl inlay was designed by a friend of the guitar's owner and hand cut by Dave Nichols Custom Pearl Inlay.  Below this inlay was featured over on the vlog.

100 Year Old Restoration :: Lyon & Healy Bowl Back Mandolin [1.3 lbs]

Whew! Finally finished up this ~100 year old mandolin restoration a couple weeks ago. Let's see ... neck & fingerboard reglue, missing soundhole pieces, cracked / loose top bracing, loose back ribs, new inlayed pickguard (courtesy of Dave Nichols Custom Pearl Inlay), new bridge and properly spaced new tuners (peghead had to be bunged & redrilled). A lot of hours into this little fella. Excited to drop it off to it's new owner. I went to high school with him in PA and this was his grandmother's mandolin. Always an honor to work on family heirlooms.
