Headstock repair :: Fender Tim Armstrong Hellcat

A Fender acoustic in with a broken headstock.  Part of the break follows the scarf joint and then on the bass side it goes vertical.  Fortunately it was a nice clean break and hinged on the overlay (ie still attached).

My glue of choice on a clean headstock break is hot hide glue.  It dries super hard and is not susceptible to creep like yellow or white glues.  Creep is when the glue joint slowly deforms under load.

Broken neck :: 1996 Gibson Les Paul Studio [8.5 lbs]

Here's the end result of the most recent Les Paul neck break repair.  It closed up really well and didn't require any sanding of the finish to make it smooth to the touch.  I'm usually reluctant to post the final photos when the customer doesn't have the budget for the finish repairs.  But this could be fairly easily touched up if he ever decides to do so in the future.

Pre-tour tune up :: 2001 Gibson SG [7.3 lbs]

Jonathon of Tigerman WOAH dropped by to have his SG checked out for an upcoming run down to Nashville, TN.  Those who have been following the shop for some time will recognize this well-played workhorse.  It's been in for a broken control cavity, broken headstock, broken strap button screws, etc.  This time it was in for a high fret.  Check out the vlog to see the problem fret addressed.

Broken headstock & upgrades :: 1992 Gibson Les Paul [7.7 lbs]

Another Gibson, another broken headstock. The neck break was repaired along with an odd break in the control cavity.  While the guitar was in the shop, the player decided to make a few upgrades, including a Tonepros bridge, amber bell knobs and cream appointments (pickup rings, switch plate, output jack plate - all originally black).  The player will be swapping out the Dimarzio "Mega Drive" (DP107) bridge pickup himself for a classic '57.  In order to cosmetically match the new pickup, the player had me install a gold cover on the neck pickup.

Below is the headstock repair.  We opted for no finish touch ups, so I just wet sanded and buffed the area to improve the feel.
