Up on the roof :: Chubbuck Rogue 005 & Kalliope 001

Up on the roof :: Chubbuck Rogue 005 & Kalliope 001

Not technically "on the bench" ... I jumped up on the roof to get a few photos of the new builds. I caught the tail end of the sunset and wanted to try again, but didn't have the chance before the Kalliope (right) shipped out last month.  The Rogue (on the left) is available to demo in person here at the ship.  Please contact me if interested.  I have been enjoying hearing a variety of players and styles come through and play it for me.  Video demos are up here as well:  www.chubbuckguitars.com/video

Details on each guitar (build & final photos, specs, videos):

Chubbuck acoustics :: Rogue & Kalliope mock up

Chubbuck acoustics :: Rogue & Kalliope mock up.

The first Chubbuck guitar builds in the new shop are getting ever closer (finally!).  The necks for Rogue 005 (left) and Kalliope 001 (right) need their rear head laminates and fingerboards glued up before being ready to carve.  So far I'm really happy with the new Kalliope design.  I tried to borrow the lines of the Rogue and scale them up to a larger body.

New Chubbuck "Kalliope" jumbo acoustic model :: gluing in the arm bevel block

New Chubbuck “jumbo” acoustic model :: gluing in the arm bevel block.

Most of you probably are under the impression that I only repair guitars.  Really I am a guitar builder who also repairs guitars.  Since opening my new shop, I’ve been slowly getting the build side of the shop up and running.  So I’m trying to wake up from my build hibernation and start mixing in more build time into my relentless repair schedule.

This bevel block is glued into the rim square inside to make clamping easier.  Next up will be carving the interior of the block, installing the linings/side braces and sound port reinforcement.  I need to finish carving the top and back while I get caught up on the rim.  Box assembly is coming into view!
